so me and swmbo going Monday looking at boats ,no hire car where is good to eat and places to visit as there for 4 days ,best marinas

Whats wrong with the 42/5 you just bought? Change the locks, that'll keep Kwackers out the funbox for another couple weeks.

its been a few years since I was there
Sagradia Familia - apparently it's nearly finished!
the old town
las Ramblas- watch your wallet/bags!
Olympic marina is good fun at night
the trip on the tourist bus up the hill behind the city is worth a go -great view and a bar
lots of shops for swmbo, lots of other---- best not mention those ;-)
lovely city, dont drive, watch your pockets/wallet

I spent most of my time trying not to get robbed.

Are you looking at marinas for your boat Roy? Get the train down to Ginesta, it’s not far, a bit bleak but has all the facilities.

Mercado de la Boqueria on the Ramblas. Amazing !!
Chocolate and Churros at Cafe de l’Opera also on the Ramblas
Park Guell designed by Gaudi
For Sagradia Familia book in advance over the internet. The queues are huge otherwise.

You will experience an attempted robbery, generally not violent, just clever......be careful!

Maritime museum at bottom of Ramblas. Plus what they all said! I'm normally sceptical about warnings, but Ramblas great potential for ripoffs.
Great Picasso and Miro museums if you are into art.

Was there 18 mths back. Sagradia Familia is certainly worth seeing. Monseratte is well worth a day train trip. And the Hop on Hop off Bus will orient you for places to go to or back too. Certainly the robbery aspect should not be underestimated, you need eyes everywhere.

One of the latest scams with rental cars, is being followed out of the main car rental station (next to train central) by a motor cyclist and while stopped at a set of lights, will puncture a rear tyre (police said most probably wearing knife/blade arrangement attached to a boot). A Good Samaritan in a following car points to a puncture as your driving along and offers to “help”. Pulling over is kind of mandatory given the flat tyre.

To get to the car jack or spare tyre (generally now a bottle of glue and mini air compressor) the suitcases need to come out of the boot, and are lying around (while trying to change tyre) or the car is open while stuffing around with glue or figuring out the logistics cigarette lighter plug for the compressor), they grab whatever looks inviting while you’re distracted. My wife lost her passport and laptop etc, and according to the Aust Embassy in Madrid, in 3 days, they had to issue 5 passports with the same modus operandi in rental car robberies in the Barcelona/Madrid/Valencia corridor. So it’s very common. We were aware of the possibilities but still got stung.

If it happens, pull the camera out and let them see some pics being taken of the helpful well dressed Good Samaritan and their parked car etc and/or decline their help and call the rental car company. But stay alert at all times.

Cheers

Thanks guys had a great time ,saw a nice mananagusta but my f42 would not fit in the garage, we liked the city but the peeps seem miserable ,but then we get same attitudes down London, it can't be my stoke accent CAN IT
