Bank Holiday weekend plans ?

Currently sitting on the boat at Gosport listening to the ropes groaning and halyards clanking with the breeze. Have given up on planned trip to Poole and will just hoof it across to Cowes, Island Harbour probs tomoz. Just watched the Bbc forecast and they're now saying its going to rain most of tomorrow :(

Thinking of joining the SoF squad......

Congratulations Greg, from our conversation, sounds perfect for you requirements. Hope you have many happy times on her.

Many thanks. After all the looking and the diferent options I am hoping she will be just the ticket! I suspect she will be and a good sound sea boat to boot.

South of France seems a great idea, my wife can't put up with these English summers any more, looks like it's going to be cheap weekend on the diesel front for sure.

Go back to the boat 2 hours later to find the dinghy's totally deflated on one side despite being perfectly OK last year when put away.

Well, that's definitely the start of the season....first job on the 'new never ending list of things to fix'

Mice? They attacked a mate of mines dinghy a few years back and then had a go at mine when in the garage, luckily for me it wasn't the tubes.

No mice pooh present in the storage bag:(

Had a test with Fairy liquid, soon showed up a little nick so that's the culprit. get the repair kit out next. Hopefully job done.

This is beyond a joke!!

Can't see any point in travelling down to Devon with this c**p weather.
So, instead, will have the exciting job of cleaning an inch or so of recently deposited mud off our landing stage on the river. However, the way it's still raining may mean I might have to do it again in a few days time!!

Yes, certainly looked a high tide last week! Down at Tewkes, the Avon was 5ft high and the Severn 12 ft above normal levels.

Well went down to Hamble on Saturday afternoon, night at Mercury and after doing a couple of jobs, like adding a further 10m of chain to our anchor we eventually set off at 11ish to Yarmouth. Great trip up the Solent with the tide helping us along (20knts SOG), pre-booked walk ashore ready and waiting for us, sun came out, sky turned blue and had a great afternoon (a bit unexpected really!!) , as always lots going on in Yarmouth to watch. Out to our old favourite Jireh house for evening meal then back to boat to watch Britains got talent... what more can you ask for...

woke up to rain this morning and with fair tide back up the Solent the raggies were all off from 7am onwards. By 10am when we left there were probably no more than 25 boats remaining! Had good run back and best of all gearbox oil remained where it should be!!

...also, not sure why but engine sounded so smooth this weekend, the boat just ran beautifully (obviously a bit of Volvopaul magic). So despite what could have been a wash out, we actually had a good weekend..:)
