Balancing my fuel tanks

Hi all,

I was wondering if the panel would be able to guide me as I want to balance the fuel out between the port and starboard tanks. My boat is an SC35 with D4 260's and due to running the ebber a fair bit the port tank has far less fuel in it than starboard and as a result the boat is very slightly listing. I figure if I can balance the fuel between the two tanks it would correct the attitude of the boat.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Well given you don't want to put some fuel in (the easy option)

close the port fuel feed and the port return feed and open both the cross feeds and go for a run until balanced.

Get the mrs to stand on the higher side of the boat.

Thanks Charliealpha - sorry yes, the simple option would have of course be to top the tank up . I should have been a bit clearer, We are actually staying on our berth for the next couple of days (No intention of moving) so wondered if there was a way to balance the tanks whilst stationary..

On a boat I had with twin tanks I forgot that with a diesel engine over supplied fuel is returned to the tank. I had filled both tanks full and set off. What I should have done is either take fuel from the tank where it was returned to, or leave the other tank slightly under full thus returning the unused fuel to that one. So what happened is that the unused fuel went to a full tank, out of the overflow and discharged into the sea.

tie it up very tight on the port side and it will level, job done until you fill it up next.

Sealines used to be very well equipped with fuel cocks, assume they still are ?

run stb engine on the berth on tickover with return going to port tank.

when level turn it off .
