What a funny thing sailing can be!!!
Yesterday I hoped to meet a friend of mine in Newton Ferris, They left Dartmouth at lunchtime and struggled west. They only got to Salcombe, what is normally two and a half hours took them six hours! They left Salcombe at six this morning and I left Newton Ferris at ten (I overslept!!) we both had fantatic sails today. I did 25 miles in a little less than four hours (mooring to mooring) FANTASTIC!!!! Not such a bad summer for us.
I hope it continues.

Sounds great - I'd stay there rather than Bristol though as it's hissing down today right on cue for the Harbour Festival

By the way, not to be picky but it's Newton FerrERS not Newton FerrIS - I've seen this mistake a few times before.

Cheers

Yes, well thought it was great. Had about six weeks from early June to end July and had some great sails from East Coast round to West Cornwall. A few rains and a few days with too much wind but on the whole, better than previous two years. Our tolerance of wind went up over the cruise too, so by the end F6-7 wasn't phasing us so long as it was sunny and we didn't have too far to go.

Interestingly on the BBC weather last night it reporetd that Bristol had had the wettest July since 1888 !!!
