back to basics/ cleaning painted topsides

OK, Dont have too much time to experiment with cleaning products and thought there would be a wealth of knowledge here. My Topsides were professionally painted 10 years ago and generally look good. quite grimy though and Id like to spend some time getting the topsides looking as good as possible. Little unsure what to wash them with and dont think any cutting compound would be a good idea. Other than a car shampoo product what would be a good wash down product? Then to polish, any good tips on simple products that wont cut the paint back?.

Thanks

Hi Steve,
After much experimentation and elbow grease, I bought a cheap polisher from screwfix and used a halfords polishing cream. Worked a treat on Bob's old stained painted topsides.
Cheers,
Crisp

Ive dug thru the invoices and it was sprayed with Awl grip. Two products are advised to be used. Awlwash and Awlcare. I think I might try the wash, not sure why but id prefer to only do it once. See what it looks like.
Thanks

For stubborn waterline stains Harpic toilet cleaner- not quite as good as it used to be but still does the business with no effort at all. Just wipe on and leave until stain disappears, then rinse off. Follow this with any old cleaner/polish with UV resistance - Boatshine is good- my painted hull lasted me for over twenty years and is still going strong...

Similarly Cilit Bang Lime and Rust Toilet Cleaner was brilliant until few years back when they changed the formula.
