The Baby Blake sea toilet on my new (to me) boat is leaking from the output pump. I've put in a gasket of the white plastic/rubber string from Blakes, along with plenty of seacock grease, and tightened it down a few times but it still leaks. Is there a special way of making a gasket out of that plastic string or am I doing something else wrong?

It's got to the stage that if I can't cure it, I'm going to rip the thing out, ebay it and fit a Jabsco with holding tank on the proceeds.

If it's a few decades old it might be the connecting rod bit that's gone slightly wineglass shaped. I got a new one from a place in Plymouth which solved the problem. Mine has an O-ring, no gasket.
