So ColinBrowne was on the money then. I wonder if Fairline are regretting their move?
I also wonder if Peters will now stop using their sea-trial skippers that spend the whole time knocking Sealine?

And We wonder WHO EXACTLY IS 'ColinBrowne'!!!!????
To "boatone"...come on..do you not think that MBM dont already know! Sealine knew of this weeks ago. Those not in the industry should keep their rumours and presumptions to them selves as this ALWAYS has a detrimental effect on the industry. There are many people out of a job as a result of this decision...so unless anyone has proper facts they should keep their opinions to them selves....thanks for the damage...
Thats a bit of a rant - can't see what Boatone said to deserve that little outburst.
So, seeing as there's nothing in your profile and you're a new user - how about giving us some more info so we can tell if you have "the proper facts" about how far back Sealine knew the situation? Or are you guilty of not following your own advice?
Yes - its very sad that folks have lost their jobs before Christmas (and at Peters too, I think), but seriously, do you honestly think that anything said on here has any bearing on that at all?
Knowing Boatone, i assume he is picking up on the fact that, nowhere on the YBW website did it mention Peters were taking on Sealine.
We usually get our news from there, and not a forum member.
Your rant at him was a bit unjustified, IMHO!
BTW, to reply to Boatone, click the reply button on his post.
It didn't take a genius to work work out that, if Sealine were closing their retail operations, Peters might be the obvious people to take over that side of the business.
And why should people not in the industry should keep their opinions to themselves? This is a chat forum where we trade opinions and rumour. If we dealt purely in fact then this would be a very dull place.
I'm sure most of us feel sorry for those who lost their jobs, but that's hardly the fault of anyone here, is it? That was a decision taken by Sealine's management, so don't blame us for it. And what damage did Boatone (or anyone else hereabouts) cause?
hmmm. I can see this work out nicely for Peters. Sealine at the bottom end and Azimut at the top end. Covers 25ft to 100+. Also, I think they were used to shifting large volume of Fairlines and Azimut would'nt be able to match that so, all in all a very good deal imho.
I take it you were affected by the job losses. If so I am sorry to hear about that. I do not think Boatone was having a rant or a go at anyone, but you will take his email as you see fit. We do thrive on gossip here as it is not an industry site, just a 'user site' where some industry people call in.
Freedom of speach I say!
BTW, great move for Peters and backs up my thoughts that this is simply a corporate restructure not a financial crisis (yet). IMHO

These new agreements follow the termination by Fairline of our distribution agreement and, whilst dealership terms were offered by Fairline, conditional exclusivity to Fairline was an unacceptable obstacle in our strategy to provide a multi-brand offering, to meet our customers’ expectations of choice, quality and value.
Absolutely, being saying that for weeks since Fairline ditched Peters. I cant imagine why Fairline thought Peters would accept just a dealership on exclusive terms after being the sole distributor for so many years. It seems like a miscalculation on Fairline's part and I bet they got a bit of a shock when Peters told them where they could stuff their proposal
I think the Peters/Sealine tie up could be great for both companies, great for Sealine 'coz they now have the marketing muscle and credibility of Peters and great for Peters because they have a product line that sits below the Azimut line nicely and they may get access to other Brunswick products
Um,any chance of a bit of enlightenment viz your post.Folks are always ranting and foaming on this forum, most do frequently and at some length.
Being a v.nosy oldgit would love to hear why you took such exception to Boatones post.Mind you he does have this irritating habit of playing marching band type music very loudly in confined spaces. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Anyway welcome to the forum.
Anything Sealiney will always get rapt attention hereabouts.
Do not know if it is true but just heard that Essex may also be distributing Sealines next year. They are in negotiation with another key market brand leader. That would virtually sew up the whole market for them.
If it is not to be an official dealer maybe they will clear excess stock? The plot thickens!
