looking at an Azimut 50 Fly with Cat C 12 in very good condition. yet many tell me to stay away due to osmosis and poor quality issues and choose a Fairline instead.
A good surveyor is your friend on this one , so is google search .looking at an Azimut 50 Fly with Cat C 12 in very good condition. yet many tell me to stay away due to osmosis and poor quality issues and choose a Fairline instead.
It’s an Azimut not a fairline. I would imagine it is the same outcome.A good surveyor is your friend on this one , so is google search .
You won’t fu d the dreaded O on a Fairline unless it’s been damaged and allowed water into the gel coat and beyond .
I may be a bit biased, but Azis are well engineered and built. Yes there have been some with osmosis, but I understand that this is not difficult to fix. I would not hesitate to have another Azi, and the 50 is a gorgeous boat.
Agreed Mike. Looking at things like the wiring, plumbing, fuel system etc are all top notch. The interior of my 39 is also smart, robust and well designed.Me neither. I owned an AZ46 some years ago and I wouldnt hesitate to have another Azimut either (I've written a letter to Father Christmas asking him for a Magellano 66 this year). I did have a few spots of osmosis on my AZ46 but they were fixed easily. FWIW I felt that my AZ46 had superior components to Fairlines of a similar age, stuff like Cat engines (not Volvo), Kohler gennie, Cruisair aircon. Its natural on a UK forum like this for UK boats to get a better press simply because more forumites have UK boats but there are plenty of foreign boats out there which are as good
