Axopar Build Quality

You have a hot line to Tristram to know that? :D

The majority of superyacht chaseboats are stored ashore for winter, seeing their setup on AWOL I'd be fairly sure the Axopar would be stored ashore.

As for how it travels, it'll depend on voyage length, conditions, guests on board or not etc. Eg. going from SoF to Croatia it'd probably be towed. Shorter trips it'd likely go under its own steam

Its got nothing to do with the water tank , shelf, or where the outboard is, its simply (being polite) rubbish hull design full stop.! Ridiculous these shaped bows. Plus they look awful.

They are very much a Marmite boat. They are selling quite a lot and they seem to hold their values well . So must be doing something right.

What is wrong with the hull design in your opinion. Out of interest the early smaller Fairlines always had there water tanks in the bows.

kept my powder dry on this .
Theres no such thing as a free lunch somethings has to give :) and has .

Interesting.Made in Poland and modular to keep costs down , so many drop in pre fab options to glue in .Also a lot of foam and core .Understand why lightness so smaller Hp for the speed or faster for a given Hp .
Dead rise bit low imho for a performance oriented thing , remember they gone down the narrow beam route so 20 is a bit low for a narrow beam .
Mines 23 and other Itama all greater than theses and normal beam / Lengh ratios .
The water tank is a glassed in compartment the V midship under the stairs fwiw .

Yeh the OB rear weight comes unstuck weight distribution wise so they attempt to shove weight in the bow .Looks like the holding tank is Fwds of the water under that bed - nice not !
It’s cheap it sells and there’s a market .

Bostom whalers 37 with 23.5 dead rise and Donzi 38 with 22 degree dead rise are made for fast Miami / Nassau runs and they have been doing them for years getting air and not breaking. It can be done albeit at a different price point .

Its funny how Axopars divide opinion. I was at a party early in the summer at a neighbours house (also an Axopar owner) as we stood on the balcony looking over the marina (and in fact our house and berth with our boat on) one of the guests said "look at that ugly boat, its a shed on the water". I bit my lip and said nothing.. the conversation continued, its totally impractical, what a waste of money blah blah blah... i didnt feel the need to inform said guest they had just insulted me and my boat, why let it spoil an otherwise very enjoyable evening...

I did raise a smile as they asked for a tow against the ebb tide after their 3,5hp outboard had failed on their 30 ft something day sailor and couldn't get back due to no wind.. yes, i did provide and no, there was no thank you offered..

Like any boat, Axopars are built for a market and at a cost. no difference to Sealine, Fairline or any other brand. I will happily share a drink and a chat with anyone on ours, discuss the finer points of whats good, bad and to be improved. What I wont do is slag off someone else's pride and joy.

I believe Axopar are over 2000 boats build now since 2015 so they are doing something right. Not perfect but then who is? Anyone can break a boat if they try... Porto, as for Donzi 38s not breaking when they get air...,

Well said! I drive a Beneteau, that is another brand that divides opinions

I like the floating shed anology, thats good, and I can see why someone might view them like that.

I like them, I could see myself with one at some point.

The good news for them , as it seems they are in bed with Sunseeker , so to speak, there is a few stock models available for sale at Sunseeker sales. Poole And I noticed today , a new model of Sunseeker, not sure which model it actually is, with a distinct shaped bow at the top, still with the vee at water line level, not dissimilar to Axopar shape. Not a nice thing to see on a Sunseeker.!

Yes , I do understand how you feel. I remember exhibiting at the Southampton boat show one year , and one passing chap described one of our boats on the stand as " the skoda on water ", which i took quite personally at the time as the builder , ( even if skoda 's have improved since VW got hold of them.) And I was quite happy to push him in the water within marina basin, head first if at all possible.. only the girlfriend at the time talked me out it. So it is hard to take at times and never forgotten it.

Wise words

I don’t know much about them but my take ( which could easily be wrong ) is just like seadoo who reinvented the expensive jet ski by using simple moulded parts, less weigh, a smaller engine and half the ticket price ,Axopar have done the same for the day boat market.

Decent size, flexible options, outboards, decent styling ( opinions vary) at a price about a third of the more traditional market.

Funny that - I always thought of them as the Volkswagen (original camper) of the sea.

XO boats are very nice and i was tempted by one but its a step up in cost, needs a bigger engine setup for same speed and in my view, less refined inside. not as a bad thing but a different use of space.

I tested a 270 cabin (inboard) and 28 TT (outboard) back to back and the Axopar was more for us being more responsive (with outboard) but the XO was a great all round boat. i would say more relaxed at eating up sea miles but less fun and i didn't want inboard. would be interested in a twin outboard XO but again, cost is king...
