Oh dear that is a bit of an amateur move. I suspected that they may have beached her, but that would have the same effect. Poor design whatever the cause
 
It's difficult to see in the video where the water is actually getting in ,Is the top of tube split or has the motor mounting broken away from the moulding.
It would appear that the motor is not supported.
 
I’m a bit worried that my boat may have the same design. This picture isn’t very good

But the bow thruster tunnel may not be molded into the hull.....

Sorry I'm being dumb. We're talking about the superyacht incident. Not sure thats an adequate excuse. I take it Axopar installed the b/t in which case they either should have designed it for the stress of being supported under the tunnel or made damned sure owners were aware of the necessity not to prop it underneath

Not sure but in any case its a lot further forward than the Axopar b/t so much less likely to have a support underneath, as the pic shows. The issue with the Axopar is that because the hull is so slender forward, the b/t has to be much further aft than yours so much more likely to have a support underneath at that point. I still dont think its a good enough reason though

I was thinking that also, I’m sure some yards might be tempted to put the lifting straps under the bow thruster

To be honest, anyone with half a brain cell should know that propping under the bow thruster unit is a very bad idea. This is a photo of the Superyacht Captain Axopar chase boat stored ashore.

Yes with the lifting strops it should be obvious but I dont see any No Lift signs at that point in your pic. Only a guess but I suspect this damage might have occurred whilst the Axopar was stored in its cradle onboard the superyacht, given that the forward support of the cradle might have been somewhere near the b/t. Of course, the Axopar would bounce up and down a bit in its cradle when the superyacht was offshore in a bit of a sea. Yes I know they tow the Axopar a lot but they must bring it onboard for long passages I assume

It's not stored on the superyacht, it follows them around on it's own bottom.

As I said, I know its towed a lot in their vids but all the time? Even on long offshore voyages?

I don't know Mike other than Superyacht AWOL isn't actually that big (only 122 feet) to be able to lift and store a 37foot tender.

I do know that it was the guy who runs Axopar who commented on the photo above. From what I can recall, the B/T cap had been replaced prior to the incident and had only been re-attached with Sika rather than epoxy.

If its towed absolutely everywhere then how could the reason for the failure have been propping under the b/t?
