Axle stands vs concrete blocks

That presumably puts the rear supports fairly close to the rear wheels so would take more than half of the weight.
Midway point on the A frame is presumably somewhat further from the wheels so will take less weight.

I am surprised they suggest taking much weight on the A frame but what is your trailer design like.

That's what I was thinking Vic. The rear points seem OK but I was going to chock on the straight part of the chassis just before the point where the 'A' starts. At this particular point, there's also a crossmember to spread the load .

The 'A' starts right by the red reflector in the pic.

Seem to remember an ad for brakes bits(Ferodo??) that showed the car supported on house bricks. It got roundly panned as a dangerous option. And rightly so. Any block is liable to fracture without warning. Axle stands are solid, if the ground under is also.
Just a bit curious about supporting trailers at other points than their axles. They are usually designed to take the loads there, and quite high ones from road stresses.

I think I might support the back end close to the rear corners... after all thats the point at which some of the weight of the boat is transferred to the chassis.

And the front a bit back (18" ish) from the reflectors close to where the weight is transferred to the chassis there.

I think Id also put a little support under the centre of the crossmember more or less in line with the reflectors,, there appears to be a support under the keel at that point.
Just a couple of supports just back from the reflectors will probably be adequate though.

Watch the chassis as the supports take the weight. If it shows any signs of flexing you will have to put more support in close to the axles.

Keep a bit of weight on the jockey wheel too.

My boat is not so heavy but when I jacked that up I lowered the front right down Put the supports under the back and then wound the front up with the jockey wheel until I could get the front supports in. All accomplished without needing any other jack..

IIRC correctly I used building blocks ( not lightweight) with wooden packing on top

The drive slopes but I supported it so that the boat was level.

Thanks for the advice Vic, it all sounds good to me. Will try to get this done at the weekend and post some pics for future reference.
