I know a few on here have had these in the past, and was hoping someone may be able to shed some light on a problem I have.
Its a 2 stroke old smokey one.
The engine will not start and after checking various obvious things, I've found there is no fuel at the carb. There are 2 fuel lines that feed from the fuel tank to ports on each side of the carb.
On removing the hoses there is no fuel in the lines or in the carbs.
There are no priming bulbs on the fuel line, so I cant see how fuel is drawn from the tank to the carb to prime, Tank and engine are at the same height and I cant see any kind of fuel pump.
I think the thing has been bodged about in the past, looking in the manual (yes i have one) it mentions a in line fuel filter which I don't appear to have, and a fuel cock which also appears to be missing. Just appears to have 2 fuel lines from the tank straight onto either side of the carb.
Anyone remember how theirs was set up.
Thanks

One of the common issues with 2 stokes as they get older is the crank seals can leak (there’s other things that go wrong as well of course), although a priming bulb sounds a good idea it may not be the solution as if it needed one then I’m sure one would have been fitted in the factory.
I find 2 strokes a bit temperamental and instead of tinkering too much I take to one of the local experts where ever I’m based who always seem to get to the bottom of the problem fairly quickly, I find it’s worth a couple of hundred quid to save ruining valuable on water time.
