Why are avon ribs so much more expensive than others, is it just that 'hyperlon' is a lot better or is the build quality on Avons better as well.

Yes they claim it is a better material but also the RIB hulls are double skinned for better impact resistance unlike something like the Valiant which is single skinned
If all you want is a tender for your boat, a Valiant or similar is perfectly serviceable as well as being lighter

Can't beat an Avon though.
Sold a 10 year old 2.80RIB last year and it was in fantastic condition!
Certainly not the cheapest, but the best.
