As a family our average age is 26 (or 24 including the dog .. but she does't go sailing so it would be unfair to count the cur).

Re: the only youngster here speaks

32 thank you kindly
i am the baby of the board without a doubt
my only worry is that as the youngest i will be forced into the poisiton of carer. i see myself having to translate to each other as the years go on and noone but me can make out what they're on about.
i have to implore kim to start a new board for the terminally bewildered
i will have to intercede between their posts with louder anbd clearer versions of their rantings.
JIMI OI JIMI, WAKEUP, NOT NOT THAT WELSHMAN, I MEAN STAY AWAKE
CLAYMORE HE THINKS THAT BENNYS ARE NOT VERY GOOD. YES THATS RIGHT.
NOW EAT YOUR SOUP UP

Naturally i will abuse this posiiton and falsify the wills toi have all left to me

29, thirties arrive at the end of the year. Oh no! Will I suddenly have desires for a BenJanBavEtap with fridge, hot water and a microwave? Will standing headroom, curtains and big beds suddenly become more important than white knuckle rides on whizzy unseaworthy boats? What have I got in store in my next decade? Maybe a real boat is finally on its way.

aah but
you look older and hav experience beyond your tender years so that does not count plus mutli hull years are in fact 10 times mono years

Re: Average age? and the ARC

well I ARCed this year and I'm 60 ('struth!) (and retired). Not sure how the rest of the crew viewed it but age per se didn't seem to be any sort of problem. Black beard has some white bits in it now though ... does anyone know if Grecian 2000 works in beards?
Ref the ARC - just one piece of advice - DO IT!

Re: the ruthless elderly home owner speaks ....

fool
Rosa is only after you for your money (she has her eye on the boat too but only as a trade in against an AWB)
she will drug your porrige and feed you out of date neeps a ban all stimulants from your diet.
trust sailbad elderly enterprises inc. the company that's dieing to meet you if your dieing to meet your maker. our transition to the hereafter plan is a painless way of ensuring a happy (if brief) stay in our luxury home by the manchester ship canal where you can relive the those heady days of the sea ( if your memory is upto it cos the view aint)

I'm almost 38 /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif and SWMBO is 36. Although salesmen/women seemed to take us seriously at the last Southampton boat show I can't say that we took them very seriously. Driven by commission they hardly had our best interests at heart. Would you trust them without verifying things for yourself?

<hr width=100% size=1>

Spotted at the boat show, how did you do that then? Have we met in a previous life? I thought I could be anonymous amongst the other 36000 people there that day. Most of the time I couldn't have spotted my own feet if I'd wanted to, it was so crowded.

i recognised you from your web site mr extravert

No, wouldn't just go by their say-so.

I've found that on every stand I made enquiries (specifically Furuno & Simrad) there are one or two who seem to know their stuff (gave sensible replies to questions asked by others). "In orbit" there are a load of spotted twerps who seem to be directed to zoom in on the riff-raff (me) whilst the salesmen I wanted to speak to seemed only to have time for the (older) Blue Blazer brigade.

If not... reef early!

Re: Inherent bias?

Trouble is, those who are not entirely comfortable about their age, may be less willing to declare on the board. So, biased sample = biased result doh.
