From various posts on this and other forums it would appear that visitors berths are as rare as hens teeth in marinas on the Med. Coast of Spain.Does this apply to all sizes of yachts or just the larger ones?- Mine is 28' / 8.5m LOA.- At the moment the plan is to come down the canals and turn left and do short day sails. Is finding an overnight berth such a problem that I would be better advised to go elsewhere? I am quite happy to anchor in settled weather but would prefer to marina hop if possible.

A small boat such as yours, shouldn't have too much of a problem to find an overnight berth. Theres a lot more marinas available to you, so berths are more plentiful. You can often also anchor in the lee of the bigger marina breakwaters, which gives you protection. Good luck and have a ball.

We have an 8mtr. boat in Spain which we have been able to berth in any marina except one for the last four years. Once you go to 10 and above then there is a real shortage.

Turning left out of the canals takes you into France/Italy and I'm not sure about those except I've been told the French ones can be quite expensive.
