Hi all,

I have an Autohelm 3000 control unit and wheel drive unit, but no clutch assembly... Anyone care to comment on fitting same to a motor boat (shaft not chain steering), without breaking the bank with custom-made stainless parts?

Oh, and by the way, is this autohelm OK?

assume the model you have is the one with a cylindrical control unit. The manual from Raymarine is not a great help in setting up, but I have one of these, and the only clutch unit on it is an integral part of the motor, so I dont understand what your problem is. if you could tell me exactly what bits you have I will try to explain what you need

I've got one of those, and it's been a great help in bringing my boat back from Turkey (where I bought it). I needed a new mounting bracket and drum to bolt onto the wheel. I had to search quite a bit, bit I found a dealer somewhere in England. If you go to the site and look at customer support, you'll find a dealer near you, they should be able to order any bits you need.

By the way, on mine the clutch (belt tensioner) is part of the motor mounting which bolts to the deck/bulkhead.

Good Luck,

Stu
