Augustimanem Roll Call.

went to bed at 3.30 am this morn on CC about 90th ran aground at some point got up today and I was 85th. It's a bit intense!!

Nope. Gave up after the first loop turn.

It's a good concept if you can understand the rules but it would have been better as a short race over 15 hours during the day.

I think you're right dipper. I've got a life to be getting on with. sitting 71st now but going out tonight so will be looking for somewhere to park.

I'm back again! In 218 position. I must be the last one still racing. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think you would have found the sailing instructions quite challenging! It's the most complicated race I have ever seen - interesting but complicated.

Jolini -- gave up after being in top 20 for two hours then being shown as 345th 10 miles behind the "leader2" when Iwas patently only 1 ml behind acording to the chart and put from 18th to 345th !!
could have ben very good but over complicated and I don`t think it is that accurate.

That happened to me as well if it was after the first way point it was because many boats didn't do the loop and the Albins didn't have to do any loop so they would have taken the leading places.

The leaderboard doesn't 'work' in that race because boats have different sized loops to sail. It's only accurate at the finish. At one stage Trev and Booby Trapper were leading (just about) but were listed nearly last.

Even in the ocean races, the leaderboard can be quite misleading. It's best to ignore it!

Yes The further you got from the mark as you were outbound on the loop you actually got lower in the rankings. at one point Trev was 417 out of 417 which meant he was actually the fastest of the boats with the largest handicap loop to sail. I'm sure that unless you were actually doing the race and understood the handicap system you will not be following any of this. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
It was sold as a "test race" I think possibly a lot of confusion arose because you could pick different boats with different handicaps. Too much going on all in the one race and too long.
