some have done it single- handed i belive /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

did u notice the boat with the red stripe /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
 
Stern-to?

Two reasons mainly:

1. Boats tend to fill the space available - you might have to nudge your way in. This tends to go better if you go in "pointy end" first.
2. Privacy: you're right along the main boulevard - don't really like the whole world and his wife looking down into my cockpit.

Understood - I much prefer stern-to, and it would be a great deal easier than bows-to with my present boat, for a variety of reasons. But in this case, bows-to it is...

We're crossing on Thursday (25/06) - mind you, still 5 days to go.

Donderdag zijn er eerst opklaringen, maar later wordt het betrokken met perioden van regen en buien. Goed zicht, later matig zicht. Maxima rond 13 graden. Vrij krachtige tot krachtige wind (5/6) uit ZW; krimpend naar Z en toenemend tot hard à stormachtig (7/8).

Thursday there are becomes first opklaringen, but later on the concerned with periods of rain and showers. Good view, later on moderate view. Maximums around 13 degrees. Freely powerful till powerful wind (5/6) from ZW; shrinking to Z and increasing till hard to tempestuous (7/8).

I especially like the last line!
 
Outlook improving

Will try to post the CINCFLEET long-term forecast tomorrow.

In the mean time:

Donderdag: betrokken met regen, overgaand in wisselende bewolking met in eerste instantie nog kans op een bui. Maxima rond 14 graden en het zicht is goed, behalve tijdens de neerslag. De wind waait krachtig (6) uit ZW, krimpend naar Z en afnemend naar matig (3 à 4).

Vrijdag: zwaarbewolkte perioden met kans op een buitje. Maxima rond 16 graden en het zicht is overwegend goed. De wind waait vrij krachtig (5) uit ZW tot ZZW, toenemend naar krachtig (6).
