Time for a bigger boat. We're looking for something up to 40ft, twin engine without a helm in the saloon. Current cruising ground is the South Coast where we get strong South Westerlies and big seas when we don't expect them :ambivalence: We want to be able to spend a month or more on board in comfort, sometimes with 4 adults. Planning to cross the channel and also Scillies at some point. An Atlantic 38 seems to fit the bill. We're also looking at Brooms. We haven't looked at this type of boat before so it's a new learning curve. Budget up to £120k. Has anyone had one of these?

Many Atlantics are beautifully finished boats. Here is another, it may be an idea to find out if she was finished by Atlantic in Workum or by a third party as I believe some vessels were.

I would very much doubt that she will do 25kn with 2 x 230hp Diesels though.
The seating upholstery could do with being renewed but that's a minor detail. The rest looks good.

Great boats , mike miller from imperial motor yachts is your man ,he is on here as imperial 1

I did a sea trial with him last Week on a 42 , great boats .

Thank you Paul.
Cathy, a 38 would suit your needs depending on which model it is. A little known fact burt there are 3 hull shapes on the 38 model. Most of the ones here were the sea going versions so you should be Ok. All 42's and above are great sea boats by design. Contrary to some peoples belief, the Atlantic's do not use NOT Broom hulls, their hull design is Atlantics own and they are designed to be much dryer in a seaway. As Volvo Paul says, we can almost certainly help and advise you so do please call or mail us if you need any advice in your investigation.

You won't go wrong with Atlantic or Broom, and you will love the space in an aft cabin layout for this sort of climate. We do extended cruising on a Broom 38 off the west coast of Ireland and have to deal with the Atlantic swell. Have cruised on a friends Atlantic 42 in the same area. Both have great sea keeping in lumpy weather.

Thanks. We saw the one in clipper marine last week and have looked at 2 more since. We're going to put our boat on the market this weekend and see how we go.
