Any ideas for a small but indispensably useful Christmas present for cruisers heading off (actually next winter) on an Atlantic circuit? Thanks for help!!!

A vacuum packer for food and a big set of bags.

Batch cooking on a cheapy IKEA induction hob in the marina with all fresh ingredients and fresh herbs in curries, fajita fillings, bolognese, fish cakes etc etc to their own taste. Then the bags last a couple of months vacuumed packed at fridge temp. Those meals mid Atlantic tasted so good.

Chamois leather. Never runs out of the ability to dry things.
Rubble sacks. I've used them to repair a leaking forehatch, emergency oilskins, keeping a deck leak from soaking my berth etc.
Onions as per Tilman.

An annual subscription to Razzle and Readers Wives; 24 glorious, glossy copies of wanton wonderment. Keep them unopened over the year preceding your voyage, then take with you on your long voyage of discovery. They are also useful for trading, bartering, thickening epoxy and forming structural shapes to be subsequently glassed over.

If they haven't got one: a pressure cooker.

On the null hypothesis: someone gave me some prepared meals all vacuum wrapped up. Ainsley I think it was. Tasteless boredom. Someone else gave me some - would you believe it - St Lucian chocolate, although I didn't unwrap it until I was back in Cardiff. It crossed the Atlantic three times!

A great suggestion, especially if you can find a smallish one that doesn't have a long handle, because it's much easier to pack away.

Something like this, but smaller:
