Atlantic 42

We looked at the Atlantic 42 at the Southampton BS a couple of years ago. Again I'm afraid it was a case of the salesman putting us off buying one for ever. He spent the whole time slagging off Brooms, (which he knew we currently had, and no one likes having their baby slagged off), so we pinched some of their good ideas, and had what we could incorporated into our new Broom. It was the 'behind the scenes' stuff, finishings that didn't seem up to scratch, but we were so put off, we didn't accept his offer of a spin out.

I have to say I got the same response regarding Brooms - claims most Atlantics are sold to ex-Broom owners. I like the Brooms but they really put my family off.
I am always suspicious when sales people resort to putting down the opposition and it's not necessary!

I have a Broom 37 (1992), and have looked at earlier Atlantics.

Perhaps it is because they are so similar that have a tendency to be negative about the other?

I think you are right. The only really comparable boat to the Atlantic is the Broom - aft cabin, bridge clearance, inland/sea suitability etc. Both seem to have high resale prices and a loyalty to the brand/type of craft.
