Following all of the advice on here I am currently looking at nearly every different type of yacht available to me. Even if I like or don't like the look of :)

Anyway I am viewing this in the next week and wondered what people knew of them. All I can pretty much find out is that they are a very wet boat to sail. Any other owners out there that have anything more.

Also on this boat, looks like she has been looked after well, what is your opinion?

Thanks in advance CFS

I have always liked the Fastnet 34. Almopst bought one once. Made an offer but did not manage to sell my own boat in time. Great boat and this one looks like she has been well looked after. Get her surveyed and go for it!

Yeh she does look particularly good, but obviously this is on the asthetics. A survey is definitely my first purchase to make sure she is good below the surface as well.

I know its not the way to buy a boat but she is soooooo pretty :)

If she's half as good as she looks, grab her !

Always fancied these boats, and as they're getting on this could well be the best one around; of course she hasn't got the 3 double aft cabins of a modern boat; another reason to grab her, good luck !

I have sailed on one quite a bit, and in company with the same one on many occasions. A nice boat to sail, quite quick, but as said can be very wet due to the bulbous topsides. Far more spacious below than my Sadler 34. The one in the ad looks to be factory finished(?) with built in furniture. The one I knew was DIY finished to a good standard.

hi, i have a fastnet 34, though it's slightly different from most... mine has a coachroof over the main cabin which stops before the mast. also, the cabin is finished in a much more traditional way. i sailed mine back from ireland last year and i think she sails really well, even in light airs. she's a good tough boat. i did get very wet in her when in very choppy seas, rounding headlands near milford (before we were ordered offshore by nazi's from the firing range...) though i can't imagine any boat being dry in such weather. i think the coachroof might help a bit with keeping dry in the cockpit. i love the amount of space below, the space on deck, the wheel steering i've got is good, and the way she behaves. she will look after you. some might call her 'tender' but i don't mind this because, as i've said, i know she'll look after me.

the boat you're looking at would seem to be in very good nick. i know nothing about saildrives though. any other questions, just ask.

laura :)

Looks good- like others I've always liked the look of them and this one looks to be in good nick- but do get a good survey.

All that I'd add is a spray hood....

The one I have seen didn't appeal due to the layout. Take a look at the Nic 345 for sale below (if the link works). They sail well, take the rough stuff and have an excellent aft cabin.

Yeh she's a nice looking boat as well. Had a look round the FastNet today. She's even prettier in the flesh and has everything I could possibly want. Even looked good in this bad weather!!!

Need to go home and think it all over and look round a fair few more boats. Weigh up all the pro's and cons and go from there.

i just went to Marchwood to see the boat in question, buying it subject to survey!

Good luck my man! A beautiful boat, I wish I could have found the funds at the time but as long as she goes to a loving home that's all that matters.

Many happy years of sailing
