At last...the final three series...........

Funny thing you post about Howards way, we walked to the jolly sailor from Port Hamble, crossing the river on the pink ferry new years day, we walked up th east side of the river, had lunch and walked back along the road to join the main road to hamble point.

On the way we found Tom Howards house they used for filming, I spoke to the neighbour and asked her if it was the correct one, I also found Thatcher cottage another house they used for some filming.

Sad I know but I always enjoyed the series, might even treat myself to the dvd set and think back to the old days.

We were in the sailor when the fire brigade were hosing down the restaurant.

Michael E from this forum was the producer or creator/writer and sent me an interesting email last time HW was brought up on this forum.

'Fraid I wasn't into boats way back then, more interested in sweets!
Remember my Mum watching it though, would like to get the DVD set, was there only one series?
I have read the book, which came first?

At the time I worked for Westerly Sea School, we did some training for the cast and helped out with a bit of sailing stuff. I ended up doing a round the Island race with Maurice Colburne, lovely chap, hopeless sailor, only a few days ago my dad reminded me that he gave Maurice a lift to the train station in Southampton after the race.

We had about a dozen putt putt yacht engines running one morning to charge batteries and they asked us to shut them off because of the noise, they sent us to the catering van and me being a greedy pig had a field day.
