After more than 30 years trying, today I’ve managed an oil change on one of my engines without spilling a drop of old or new oil. (y)

Does that now qualify me as an expert, or am I just setting myself up for a fall:ROFLMAO:
 
I've mastered this (after years).

1) DRAINING
After a long run, use an electric pump to drain the oil into a 20l drum. Drill a hole in the cap of the drum and put the outlet pipe in there.
(Even with hot oil, this takes me about 30 mins per engine. Slow, but no stress)

2) FILLING
Get one of these for your 20l oil drum (of new oil, don't mix them up!): Dispensing Tap 20 & 25 Litre Drum | Car Care Ireland

Lie the drum on top of the engine and pour in oil.
(Again, this is slow, but stress free)


When it comes to the filter, no matter what, there's spillage on the KAD300. I can just about get a flexible container in there, but there's always something to wipe down.

By the way, what kind of elec pump do you use and do you pump out of the dipstick tube?

Unfortunately my oil filters spin on with the filter opening facing downwards. I now leave the filter removal until the oil has drained out of the engine. There’s always some left in the filter, but not enough to spill out when I remove it. I immediately invert it and it then goes straight in to a carrier bag or plastic container to prevent any spillage. The same bag is used for any kitchen towels use. So much the same as you, that also soaks up and leakage.
 
I have never understood the logic of upside down filters, not only a pain to take off but you also can't fill up the new ones before fitting, ( don't like the idea of the engine turning over waiting for oil pressure to build ).
