Recently bought a Askeladden 14-2210 (secondhand), but would like get some tips, experiences from other people having this boat:

- what is the outboard motor you have on it and what is your experience with it?
- any other tips?

Thanks,

Mathijs

Welcome to the forum Mathijs!

I thin you may find that there will be relatively few people on this forum who have experience with Askeladden (Norwegian producer), and even less so with this specific model which is very popular for those who have cabins near to the sea and wish to have a sturdy usable boat to move in relatively sheltered water and to go fishing/small excursions with...

With it's small keel it will never be a high performer in respect to speed, but she is said to handle well with modest outboards and is quite soft riding in the light chop areas which she is designed for...

Test Askeladden 14 -2210

There are a couple for forums in Norway whom may be able of helping you out a bit more in respect to comments etc., and one of them is pretty open if you have a Facebook account ...

That and its cousins are very common in Norway. Used one and its like many times over there.
You see them all over with 6 - 10hp as a Juniors runabout.
6 will plod away nicely at about 1/2 throttle. try to push it harder and i find noise and fuel use increase for little gain in speed and you need to move to the middle of the boat with a tiller extension to get it to level out.
A 9.9 is better IMO and the majority have those fitted.
I find them stable, reasonable sea keeping even in a 1m swell , rowing is ok but i really struggle across the waves at 45 degrees but that is probably my bad back / technique.

As I mainly fish from the boats I like to have a pump to get the water out.

Other then that enjoy I think you will find it a nice boat.
