One good thing about asap is that they will take the time to pick stock and take measurements for you before you buy if you ask, very handy indeed.
Arleigh Group is the parent company for ASAP supplies and Arleigh, Nova Leisure, Midland Chandlers, and Aquafax,
There's also LKQ Leisure and Marine in the mix there somewhere, I've not looked at the full company structure.
They also appear to be a big supplier to the caravan/motorhome market.
When I've looked at this type of company structures in the past, but not specifically Arleigh, I've found that they have a serial string structure, which looks something like this:
Importer, the arm which imports and looks after import duty and compliance with UK standards.
A group holding company.
Then specialised sales companies.
And there can more intermediate companies, ie there's often a wholesale company in there somewhere.
Each one of these subentries, has running cost and has to make a profit, that all adds up to a big mark-up on the price manufacturer charges.
I've found that buying from an EU supplier is often cheaper, especially if the cost is below the import duty threshold, and they usually have stock.
Can you see if and when they took over Asap?
Agree with that. They’re sourcing some aluminium pencil anodes from a USA wholesaler for me after I had a chat with them at the boat show.. no one else was interested…I've always found ASAP to be a very useful 'one-stop shop' offering excellent service.
