Arthritis in one finger

The advice offered here is, as might be expected, generally well meaning and enthusiastic but lacking an evidence-base.
Would you expect to get good advice about a yachting problem on an arthritis forum?

Which is exactly why several people did suggest getting a proper medicakl diagnosis

I found myself limping about & in quite a lot of pain from a hip & knee joint about 15 years ago but that seems to have magically vanished & now I get pain in finger joints,a grinding sensation in my neck & last year pretty dreadful elbow joints which my doctor said was tennis elbow......& that is despite never playing tennis .......& I eat all the stuff which most people here say is bad for you.
Is there any hope? :D

It was sorted by a cortisone injection into the palm of my hand - unpleasant, but it works and is a one off.

I had a total of 13 'one-off' cortisone injections in my elbows. Wouldn't happen today but this was in the early 1980s. The injections never did solve the problem, which recurred at ever-decreasing intervals. Giving up competitive canoeing solved it though.

My late wife had a similar problem with tennis elbow; in her case ultrasound helped. Similar period - 1980s. However, that elbow was never as good as the other one.

I have a bandage which places pressure on the tendons just below the elbow and it reduces the duration of each attack. So far no doctor has offered any more advice than taking ibuprofen
