I'm possibly helping to bring a yacht from Fairlie to Ballycastle in a couple of weeks, and was thinking of stopping off either at the south end of Arran, or the south end of Kintyre for the night.

I've never been to either place before and I'm offshore at the minute with no access to almanacs etc.

Can anyone tell me if there's a suitable place to tie up for the night. (and maybe go for a pint or two!)

Cheers,

Stu

campbeltown south end of kintyre has a small marina ? pontoons and is recognised jumping of point clyde/ northern ireland

make sure you get the tides right or it will double your passage time

There are no sheltered spots or harbours south of Lamlash on Arran and its only a few hours sail from Fairlie. So I would say Campbelltown or Sanda Island would be best.

Campbeltown has a pontoon and is sheltered.
An hour nearer the Mull is Sanda which is sheltered in everything except N eastish I think - there is a pub there.
