Army Barmy

I remember the skipper of one of the army’s yachts telling me (in a very loud voice) “The chaps all call me the galloping Major”, and one of his crew muttering “No we don’t. We call him Private Parts”.

The red Co32s were lively, good company when rafting alongside.
The navy crews a bit more reserved as I remember ( or on their bestest behaviour ?)

The Army covers the Marines and they have always been very involved in sailing. Probably done because the Army have spare personnel to do the job,

The only marine I knew was in the navy. He used ribs, sibs, and rigid raiders, don't think they sailed anywhere! Well chaps, we need to go and attack them over there but we can't as the wind is wrong for the sailboats!

It's not about that, it's about transferable skills - dishwashing, heads cleaning, heavy drinking, remaining calm under incoming missives from management, endurance of snoring, that sort of thing.
