So... all the forecasts seem to be coming together in agreement that Satuday will be a OK day in the South West... But Sunday will be Rubbish and Monday mediocre...

With some fairly strong winds for Sunday as well..

So.... I had been plaing on driving down and hainvg a Solo weekend on board... but with that forecast it looks like a 5 hour dirve down today, nice day out on Saturday... then sitting around in the rain on sunday... followed by a 6 drive home on Monday.

Any hope whatsoever that Sunday will be good??

Should I stay or should I go???

A moment on the boat is never wasted.

Got any little jobs or projects that need doing?

Anyway, get the GRIBS and check it yourself, or wait for SimonJKs prophecy.

NOT go to the boat!

Are you mad!

Get some beer/mags/papers
go to the boat, if the weather is good, sail, if not sit back, relax, enjoy the view, have an impromtu party with others in the same situation!

Simon's prophecy was out yesterday.

ask yourself: why do you go sailing? Why alone? I am pretty sure that answering these questions will help you justify your decision. Even in rain, a walk along the wooded paths in the coastline around Plymouth sound will be better than festering at home.

Sail round to NF Saturday, walk and drink Sunday 3 pubs plus yacht club to get through. Back Monday .

Yacht Club flags maybe it half mast

Met office now forecasting SSW5 gusting 34 kts for Sunday so I probably won't consider Yealm now.

I said to SWMBO yesterday that "forecast seems a bit vague, perhaps it won't be too bad on Sunday" but it just keeps getting worse with Sat. and Mon. going downhill a bit too now!

Commiserations!

I wanted to do a 3-day sail (? Fowey/Plymouth) but SWMBO is not keen on sitting out a wet weather blast on Sunday; so we're more likely to do a day sail on Monday with, if the weather has calmed by Sunday evening, an overnight in the Helford, just to be out and about.

What is it with the UK weather at the moment?

I have a 3 hour drive to my boat and would not feel inclined to venture down given the forecast, particularly in the second half of the season.

If you went you might strike lucky because the weather models are predicting strong winds in the absence of clear cut text book weather systems, so there must be much guess work involved.

At the end of the day the boat is not an obligation, surely things will settle down sometime in September. Remember that quite period last year, I snuck in a bonus cruise to SW Ireland in the last 10 days of September and early October.

Well.. 6 hours on the M5 on a friday followed by 6 hours sailing....a day in the rain and wind.... then 6 more hours on the M5 on Monday.... just didnt tick my boxes this weekend.... I am pretty damn annoyed because I was well up for it... and could have come down on Thursday if the forecast hadnt included a "Very Rough" in it...

Generally I dont come down on this weekend... but this year I was keen if the weather was right... and only on Tuesday it had been looking pretty good.

Errrggg!!

Anyways... Maybe come down next Thursday!

My thoughts exactly! The M5 has been very slow since July in my experience-and as this is the last weekend of the school holidays I expect it to be one of the worst. Decided tosave my fuel money and add it to the boat fund.

You have no idea how lazy some of us can be when we step aboard...

Or how soft and comfy the saloon becomes when the little jobs involve any effort at all...

ZZZZzzzzzzzz

Still, nice to be aboard though..

On the Yealm it has been raining all morning, the wind is building. I went to get something off my boat up river and it was very unpleasant. A neighbour who had just come onto their mooring said it was not pleasant out there.

Thanks Iota... the weather is quite nice up here in Notts... Had a great meal out last night... going out for a nice walk with fred in a while... So I think the best decision was made... plus saved probably a hundred squid in fuel etc... which will pay for half of the heater from SkipperStu!

Plus Smwbo is off to MIL for tonight.. so its MY choice on the telly!

Whoo!

Saturday was a good day for sailing in Falmouth but SWMBO had 'needs' so we didn't sail.

Today, Sunday, in Mounts Bay, Cornwall, where we are, has been 20-50 yard visibility with no wind and either persistent drizzle as well or just fog. Just been for a walk and could hear the waves on the beach but couldn't see them. There's a bit of a breeze just started but all it's doing is swirling the fog! Don't have any great expectations for a sail tomorrow but always live in hope!
