Re: Right wingers

Sorry, I must have missed the fact that they were on a Christian Aid mission in Afghanistan. I cannot believe that you are seriously suggesting that these guys were there for any purpose other than demonstrating their support for the Taliban/Al Qaeda cause

I did warn you that this thread was way to political and would inevitably end in a fall out. I vote that you all kiss and make up before someone gets really hurt !!!

I'm afraid this all sounds a bit neo-Bushite right wing for my liking and I'm a member of the Conservative party!

I don't know whether the people released were guilty of terrorism or not. I do know some of them were actually arrested in Islamabad in Pakistan and seeing as they are Pakistani, I don't deem it as a crime for them to go there. I am sure our govt. would have prosecuted them to the full if any evidence was proferred other than the location. If location is sufficient proof of guilt then I am clearly a member of ETA having been in Spain when bombs have gone off.

I would have had a lot more confidence in their detention had they been arrested by UK troops and not interned on the say so of this army:

I'm all for proper persecution of terrorists, but I rather like them to be proved as such, rather than assumed as such first - call me old fashioned! :)

Are you sure THEY had AK47's on them ? Who told you that, not the always accurate UK or US Security or "Intelligence"/forums/images/icons/wink.gif Forces? Oh, or was it the Daily Mail ? /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
Sorry, but if you believe any of them implicitly there is no hope for you.
All IMVHO of course.

Re: Right wingers

Not so........I am a Conservative as in the Caring Conservative type but I believe in the rule of law. People are not quilty just because someone says they are.
In Afganistan if you have a dispute with you neighbour then you shop him to the Americans saying he is a terrorist and the Americans intern the poor chap in Cuba.
No evidence required. This is not right in my books.

Only guilty if proven in a court of law is acceptable to me and not based on confessions obtained by torture or duress and certainly with legal representation.
Thismakes me a pinko......shame on you

Nigel
