The covid guidance I’ve read suggests it is ok to use your own boat but I’ve read conflicting advice with people thinking it is restricted till 29th March.
British Marine are clear on here that it’s ok:

the first Column is ‘no earlier than 8th March’. Thoughts?

As others have said, yes you can use your boat but should comply with all other restrictions.

As an aside, I am at a loss to understand why only ‘open air’ boating is allowed when it can only be with the people you live with or you are in a ‘bubble’ with. Perhaps it is about being able to see how many people are on the boat in question?

My understanding is that this element is guidance developed by Govt with RYA and BMF because the law simply says that a reasonable excuse to be away from home now include ‘recreation’ - so this guidance appears to be intended to tell us what ‘recreation’ is and isn’t.

Our marina is busy'ish they are happy for people to be there so long as you don't stay overnight - I felt a trip for essential maintenance was OK as I haven't been near since mid Nov due to my Hip replacement op - 35 mins app 25 miles - others around had travelled a little further.
OK on the 29th is perhaps a little clearer after which is when I will go again................

In France the marinas often publish their interpretation of the rules. Otherwise we phone them. Although sometimes it’s obvious, for example the first lockdown they cordoned off the port.

I suspect open air boats refer to sailing dinghy, row boats, paddle craft etc that constitute exercise has morphed somewhat to include bigger vessels. In Wales the definition is a little clearer. Boats such as ours are lumped under caravans and static caravans.

I have never seen a caravan lose a fridge on the move
