We passed this unusual craft off Thorpeness or thereabouts on our way up to Southwold yesterday. I assume it is one of those Transatlantic rowing boats? Anyone know who they are and what they are training for?
Apologies for poor photo, but we were jiggling about a bit!

The usual thing is the "Talisker Challenge" which is from the Azores to the WIndies sometime after hurricane season. There was a pair training on the Crouch a few years back... Rather them than me

Funnily enough, I used to make them for Rannoch Adventure. I worked for Demon Yachts, one of their stock in trades is these things. I can’t think of many things I would rather do less than row across the Atlantic. Nutters!

At least they are practicing on the sea. I met one of these nutters who did his training on the Thames at Pangbourne, On the race he gave up after a day or so, couldn't cope with the waves.

They'd probably do the crossing faster if they put an oar up as a mast and tied a shirt onto it.
