Are the boat builders selling us short ?

Mike. Super yachts employ crew to do that work.

The number of boats is critical to this sort of project. To few it doesn't pay, to many and you can't give the service as everyone wants work done at the same time.

In the marine industry most suppliers fail to meet expectations and this is because they are probably set to high in first place. As a skipper I MUST make sure everything is right for my boss, most times if I come up short it is when I am reliant on other people. By adopting the 7 Ps I minimise this but I'm only looking after one boat imagine looking after 20 or 30.

I don't doubt that they do but sometimes they must have maintanance problems that require specialist intervention and which the crew can't deal with. Then surely they are reliant on shoreside assistance, aren't they? What do you do if say you have a major aircon failure 2 days before your boss arrives for his annual summer holiday and you can't fix it yourself?

Valid point. Sometimes things happen but generally one manages to get stuff sorted hook or by crook. Dropping tips regularly oils many paths to suitable people who can make a difference.

I'm disappointed to hear that. I thought PM was being sold as a full service marina. What do the superyacht owners do?

well actually there is;
there is at least one good company that does boat cleaning, I saw them working on a neighbour boat, but have'nt tried them yet
there is a good laundry service that we use,
there is good mechanical service provider, my MAN man,
many local shops bring the goods or food to your boat,
and you can hire BWA to arrange all that for you,
but I guess that if you have it ALL outsourced, there is a price to pay,...
