Are BYH feeling the pinch

That sounds just like my £150 quote for replacing a cap shroud. Final bill was IIRC £320. "Oh the £150 didn't included the parts or VAT"

Crossed them off my list of yards to use.

Next rigging job was a Foxs. A written quote, job done very promptly, bill same as quote. Not difficult is it?

Relieved - in a way - that it's not just me :(

From what has been said here I would imagine a few others would join you in that sentiment, the troll is most likely just that, a troll. But just in case Laura does a sneaky edit, you could always edit the edit, unlike the old forum ;)

Must be an employee/shareholder or something ...

Anyway, this should explain my sentiments.

Interesting. I've found them all to be very pleasant and easy to deal with at BYH so far, but then again I haven't had any work done yet. I'll bear your comments in mind to get a full quote if and when the time comes.

they treat us all as though its an insurance claim
price low to get the job, that is in fact, "a starter for 10"

How's your crystal ball this morning? There has indeed been a quick edit.
Had my wrist slapped by PM too. It seems that however dishonest/etc... people behave you can not call them wanchors.

Ah yes, I see what the problem is now. Simple when you think about it.
[removed following numerous complaints]
Standing by for a slap, Natalie
Maybe if the mod's got involved instead of playing the aloof role currently being displayed, they might realise that the ECF is pretty much self moderating, and probably the most civilised forum on here

BYH is an important element of the Crouch yachting scene and an important element in the economy of Burnham.
To call all the employees offensive names is not acceptable, would you be prepared to say that face to face? [some of them are big lads:) ]

This thread is beginning to look like a bit of a witch hunt. Unless I've mis-read some irony here?

On my part, indeed, afraid the irony emoticon thing is still unavailable :o
Never had, or likely to have, any dealings with them, but some who have seem a little less than fully satisfied by the encounter :)

OK, then I apologise for my misunderstanding.
For the record, I have had dealings with BYH and been happy with the result, but that doesn't make for much of a story, I suppose.

No apology needed Dan, and as always, all and any input is welcome. Without the positive feedback, or the negative, only one point of view is heard. :)

No witch hunt was intended.
Indeed, I didn't go into any detail till BJ4U took offence.
I then explained the reason for my remark, MoodySabre had a similar story, and the cat was out of the bag.
Since then I have received two PM of people who were also treated in a similar way but for their own reasons can not come forward in public.

Had BJ4U just kept quiet my remark could/would have been treated as just the rantings of an idiot on the internet and no damage would have been done.
If in future, customers will insist on written and detailed quotes before getting yardwork done, some good will have come of this (and nasty surprises avoided).

I have to say this.

Personal view of course but I have found the choice of language not becoming of this forum. I would respectfully ask Sixpence to withdraw this response.

Please can we all stop calling BYH names - Guapa's post was removed for good reason.

We encourage you to discuss experiences you have had with companies as long as the account is based on fact. I hope you can all see that Guapa's account of his dealings with BYH is still up despite receiving numerous complaints about his post.

If you keep throwing the naughty word around we will have to pull the thread, as we don't have time to deal with every individual post. I don't want to have to do this.

Thanks,

Laura

Good call Laura ;)

Why should I have to keep quiet if I don't like the language used on the forum. As for Sixpences post, well I expected more from him than that load of rubbish. How would he like it if we all started saying his pub food was rubbish and the staff were to? I am sure he would not find that amusing :)

He thought he was drifting a thread ;)

Just for balance, I had a number of issues with BYH, not the harbour masters, they are second to none IMO, but I hope a minority of the boatyard staff, who perhaps should never have been taken on. I will say no more other than I would quite happily discuss the matter with the Directors of the company that own it, should they read this forum. There is, I believe much they are unaware of. My 10-15k per annum has gone elsewhere as a result.
