Sorry, I know this is getting dull but it's doing my head in.
Does anyone know an online resource for Ardic operators manuals? I have no idea yet what model mine is as I have yet to climb into the void under the cockpit and have a look (thought I might wait for Col to go there, it's probably easier for him /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif), but the control box looks just like my Eberspatcher one on my last boat i.e. small black bock with rotating dial thing and 1 rocker switch. Switch it right and a green light glows and the blowers blow cold. Switch it left and a red light comes on and the blowers blow, er, cold -but now there is smoke/steam coming from the exhaust outlet in the side of the boat. However, there is not much pressure and I ran it for a good 20 minutes with the engines running and still the blown air and the exhaust air remain tepid!

No-one seems to know how these things work. Col is going to have a look, but I wouldn't mind finding an owners manual I could copy, or speak to someone who has a bit of experience.

Did speak to the current Ardic distributor ESPAR, but they're in Plymoth and I'm not!

Help.

Did you ever check if yours was a system with remote heat exchangers that are used to distribute the warm air?

I have a manual for the model ARDIC 04-5.
I have obtained info from Aquamarine in Hants 01703 694949.
Could fax you copies of My book if that's any good?

I think it is the remote heat exchanger type. It's difficult to tell for sure becasue of the location of the unit. \but there are loads of Red and Blue water pipes all over the place, so suggests it is that system.

Jez,
I'm hearing too many "not sures" & "don't knows". Didn't you get a boat handover ? I know where my warm air heat exchangers are. So should you.

I'm sorry but you're just going to have to get right inside that boat proper and trace out all the lines until you KNOW what is what. Only then will you or anyone else have any chance of fault finding the system

I've got an Ardic on the boat I bought this year but I don't know which model it is. I've got the manual on the boat and will pick it up at theweekend in case you haven't got the right one by then.

I agree, you need to follow those water lines and see if they are warming up or not. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I think the link you give is a very helpful guide. The main issue is, engine steals heat from system. Modify system to remove engine from loop. Pretty much what I said to Jez a few days ago.

I think the advice on ensuring no air locks in system will probably help Jez as well. The symptoms sounded very similar.
