I am planning join a yacht to do the ARC this November and have been advised to take out some personal insurance . Has anybody got any experience of types available, is it worth taking out?, and will they come and lift you off if you break a leg?

The mind boggles! halfway acroos the Atlantic, break a leg and you expect a paraffin budgie to come and lift you off? Or perhaps Seastart will send a rib?

A full recommendation for Pantaenius who do personal insurance tailored for the yachtsman and who understand the ARC requirements. Look no further.
Ring 01752 223656 and ask for Lorraine.

I imagine the OP was thinking more In terms of being lifted off onto a Merchant ship for treatment or at least a quicker and more comfortable passage back to land! This does happen occasionally though I'm not sure whether the ship would charge for diverting - if there was insurance available to claim off, possibly, I don't know.

Cheers, Brian.

Just looked at Topsail premiums, they're a joke. For 9 months sailing in their area 2, we pay £170 for two of us with Insure & Go, whereas Topsail want £990 each!!!!!!

I have no experience of either, but premiums aren't the whole story.
You only find out what your insurance policy is worth when you have to make a claim.
