Aqualarm, flow detector, any got one ?

The instructions say install with the flow horizontal, that can be done, but

From the supplier in the USA:
The sensor needs to be perpendicular to the ground. It can be angled slightly to one side or the other . If it is angled a lot or parallel to the ground, you may experience unsatisfactory results. Only installation and test will tell . When the detector is angled, gravity starts affecting the paddle.


Any one has the sensor to the side, or at least significantly away from the vertical ?
 
I have one fitted with the module horizontal and the 'appendage' sticking up. It works very well but I can't help with mounting it off level. I seem to recall the paddle is spring loaded so I wouldn't have thought gravity would really have much effect.
