I have an Aqua Signal 40 Tricolour/Anchor light.

Either the anchor light bulb has failed or there is a connection problem within the unit.

I fitted the unit about 5 years and was wondering

a) If someone could remind me or know of a leaflet that shows how to take the unit apart

b) The size and type of bulb required - 10w ?

Might save me yoyoing up and down the mast.

Thanks

a) Assuming its the quick fit type the section with the lenses is a bayonet type of fitting onto the base. So AFAIK its a small part turn then lift off. Mine is the older type "slow" fit type where the ring below unscrews to release the lens assembly(Always have to wriggle the lenses back and forth to release it though) Sorry I don't know which way the quick fit type has to be turned. Counter clockwise I'd expect.

b) 25 watt, with the option of 10 watts for little boats (<12m ). They are special bulbs with a two contact bayonet base with offset pins and a vertical filament on a spiral support. Hence the astronomical cost!

Aquasignal website is http://www.aquasignal.info/aquasignal_de/htdocs/news_current.php?id=52 but it is not one of the easiest to navigate

I have an old, 20 years old, Quikfit. There is a plunger either side of the base which, when depressed, release the unit from the base (it lifts straight up as the connecting pins pull out of their sockets). The lens assembly then bayonets anticlockwise to remove. You can find exploded diagrams of the current type on the acqua signal website. Just Google it.

[/ QUOTE ] I am sure you are right about the way the base is fixed to the mount as well as the fitting for the lenses but not that clear on the exploded diagram I found. There seem to be several variations on the series 40.

This the one I was thinking of

Just what do you put in a Google search to find a decent diagram. Better still what's it's URL?

This ia the diagram I found, just a parts identifier.

I see the url I quoted did not give the result I expected despite being copied and pasted,

Best way seems to be to start at www.aquasignal.de
