AQAD30a noise

Hi,
Just found Panda Injection workshop at Fareham and was quoted £28:00 to check all four injectors, sounds very reasonable to me so I'm off the take em out and drop em off.

if you are talking pop testing then they can tell you the are not working but without expensive modern machines I dont think that they can say they are OK
30-42 engines are very fussy on injectors
I think that you will find a lot people have spent large sums on these engines on the basis of incorrect injector testing and have found replacement injectors to be the answer

Well I think they can tell me if they are working correctly at the required pressure or if they are leaking and squirting causing incorrect combustion rather than spraying. I have now dropped them off and they are going to call me tomorrow to let me know if there are any problems, strangly enough there was an MB diesel van driving in as I came out.

the only way they can be tested correctly is on a rig and running at the correct speed
a simple pop test is not enough now for a high speed diesel engine
as I said it is simple way to cause confusion you test them on a pop tester and then spen a fortune be cause you assume they are OK
but you can prove they are leaking etc this way

I only want to know if they are spraying correctly and not leaking as the engine has a clacking noise even at low speed and down on power. But if you mean a rig that holds all the injectors and fire's them at different speeds in a perspex cabinet, they have one of these.

Tests have come back, all injectors working at correct pressure, spraying and not leaking.
Oh well back to the drawing board.

Ulyden,
I will try and make a video, but I went to the injection company to pick up the injectors , he now wants to check that they have the correct nozzles fitted as they were in very good condition for the age of the engine so they must have been changed at some point in the past.

Refitted the injectors, run engine to opperating temp on careful examination there is a slight misfire when it misfires there is a puff of white smoke which smells of diesel. Run engine up to 2000 rpm still had misfire and white smoke which seems to be only on one cylinder.
The noise I heard coming from engine is diesel knock which gets worse if you rev the engine quickly.
When bleeding the fuel at the fuel filter I did notice that it only trickled out of the filter bleed screw even when it was undone 3 or 4 turns. this filter is fed directly by the lift pump before it goes into the injector pump.
Should the lift pump be able to squirt the fuel out of the bleed screw? according to the manual there should be 2.1 - 3.9 psi of pressure from the lift pump.
