Re: Question?

um, lots of day charter types wouldn't have a clue which is best. The diesel will obviously give longer life for the owner. Both will make a fairly decent racket and belt along.

Stranger than fiction ..

But I went on the Glastron stand today ( honest ) to see if I would fall through the hull.

Broker on the 279 said he would NEVER reccomend anyone bought a petrol -powered boat ' £200 a day , you might as well buy a bigger boat'. Thank goodness H0.5 is away or there would be another 1,000 posts on the subject .

And yes it is £50k for that boat ..... and it's still for sale ... must be the only delivery available this side of July.

P.S. I didn't fall through the hull //

Oi, I pop away for a bit and you are all at it /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif Anyway I have survived the ski-ing no broken bones. In Houston for the weekend shopping /forums/images/icons/wink.gif then off to Hawaii on Sunday. Anyway the Glastron 279, Yes lookes at it loads of times and I was tempted at one time but at the SBS last year saw that and the Larsons together on the same stand. The Glastron looks very cheap and nastily finished compared to the Larson, and the KAD32 would struggle a bit. They had the price sub 50k at LBS last year including a radar arch, quite a good price but MFI finish. You get what you pay for, just that I would not want to have a boat with an engine that could not do the job properly. The Larsons are very smart compared to the Glastron, although there seems to be lots as an extra on the Larson, which is standard in the Glastron package.

Thanks Pete some very useful points there especially about the radar arch being included, they want extra for it. The finish too is not brilliant, and you mentioned Larsons, I will check but suppose they are more expensive like for like

I see from your response to the diesel andyour previous views on the subject, it aint worth you answering my QUESTION further down this thread? Have a good hol you lucky bugger. Regards Clive
