Anyone used a Whispergen?

I like the idea of a near silent genny also supplying the hot air heating for the boat. I know they are really battery chargers and mains is supplied via the inverter. But apart from the outrageous price, are there any other drawbacks.
Has anyone got one?

is this based on the stirling engine?if not what happened to the company that were building stirling powered generators?

That's the one. It is built by a New Zealand Company- called Whisper Tech, always was apparently. Victron were only the agent although they gave the impression it was their baby.

these units were built for use in southern ocean LOADS of HEAT usefull bit of electric BUT if you want eleftric on the thames in summer you have to dump LOADS of HEAT so get the full instruction/run manuel this is a big book not just the sales blurb read it and make your own decision.no sweat
