Hi

I've just inherited one of these with my boat and I don't have any instructions - please help /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

In basic terms, connect it up to power & tiller on a steady course & switch it on. It should maintain a steady course. There should be some sort of buttons for port & starboard course changes. My wheel pilot does 1deg per push, or hold for a 10-20-30deg turn etc with short or long beeps so you know.

There may also be a NMEA input so it can follow a track from your GPS or plotter.

If it steers the wrong way then you'll need to change the 'mounting' setting. This is done by unplugging the power and then pressing the CAL and TACK keys as you restore power. Then press the PORT or STARBOARD button to change the setting.

You can also change the sensitivity and the sea state parameters but I can't remember how.

Press TACK and the appropriate PORT or STARBOARD button to initiate a 100 deg change of course.

Apart from that the controls are as previously stated by Searush. BTW there's no NMEA o/p from the TP100.

Oh! Very important! You need to press the AUTO key to go from standby to autopilot mode - and back. In standby the direction buttons can be used to move the tiller directly - quite useful for trimming the steering if you can set the boat up to hold a course when sailing. It saves a lot of battery power compared to using the autopilot mode.

Do you have a mount on your cockpit and a fitting on your tiller ? If so plug it in on a calm day, give your self some room & point where you want to go - mine works pretty much exactly as searush has outlined above. Go for it. Try it under engine to start off.

Manuals for the current range TP10, TP22 and TP32 can be downloaded from from the Simrad website Starting from this page .

Not relevant to the current question I know but the info might help some one.

I have been unable to find on line manuals for old stuff though. It required some determination to find the above!

[/ QUOTE ] I dont know how you find these things, dont just say haven't you heard of Google.

One day perhaps you'll publish "PVB's guide to finding elusive info on the net"
