Anyone own a Cobra HH500 handheld VHF? Battery question.

I have one and am generally pleased with it. However, I find the li-ion battery will go dead, despite showing a full charge on the on-screen indicator. It lasts a few hours (6 or 7) on low power, before it cuts out without warning (though it does emit a death beep).

Is this typical? I am assuming that it indicates the battery has had it and needs replacement, but I wanted to be certain it isn't just how they behave before I order a new battery. Thanks.

I have one. The problem on mine is that the batteries can’t cope with cold weather. I was advised to keep it in my oilies but could not be bothered. I bought a battery pack for AA dry cells and this works fine in winter. Once the batteries run out I will revert to the lithium rechargeable one for summer

Thanks. I have a feeling it came with a pack for AA batteries. I’ll check the parts box and have a try with them.
