Anyone know where i can get something like this... but a bit cheaper...

Two u bolts and a 90deg bend of heavy wall stainless steel might be as good a place as any to start when designing from scratch . Using boatjumble suppliers of course. ?tenner all in?

yup, exactly what I was thinking. the only thing I'm missing is a mechanism to let the table swing in and out of the way

The whole thing swivels both at the top supporting the table & at the bottom. You then fit two supports - see website - one in the floor & one on the side. Have a look on a vw camper website & you will get the idea. You will need the fitting that fits on the underneath of the table top. The top you can make yourself, or look on ebay for something funky.

I know you have said you don't want to pay £150 but they are well worth it. Had mine for 3 years, very versatile and easy storage as main pole attaches to back of table. Have you got a Birthday coming up soon!!

+1 Lagun system very well engineered, and coupled with folding top from KJ Howell is the bees knees.

I had looked at that, has anyone ever had one in their camper?

Charles, by deflect do you mean bend when any weight is put on it? Because that is what i'm trying to avoid (Albin Vega table - two poles slide into the floor sole)

how about using a tele wall bracket I took one down from a wall last week and looking at it right now I'd say it's very close to what your talking about. This one has one main joint two arms one with a fixing plate the other has a round plate. I'm sure it's man enough to hold a table top and I think it could be adapted
Medical places have the same sort of things perhaps a look on ebay may turn some thing up, just had a look on ebay theres this

Black Adjustable Laptop Stand / Workstation for Home or Office NEW - ZF862
it's steel tubing so could be bent and fixing is simple
