Anyone know anything about Seiwa chartplotters?

Can't seem to find many user reviews for Seiwa chartplotters. Are they a new-ish brand? The specs look good on their entry level machines but I'm hesitant to purchase as its not a brand name I've come across and I can't find much on the web. If there are any Seiwa chartplotter owners out there I'd love to hear their views on them.

I think they may have some connection to Standard Horizon - the low-end SH plotters used to interface with a Seiwa-branded radar unit although this combination wasn't marketed in the UK for some reason.

Hi, I bought a seiwa "tigershark" monochrome plotter, 2nd hand in 2003. cant fault the unit, accepts c-map cards. However the external aerial as been a problem, doesn't seem to hold up in the "Australian sun". had it replaced once by the local agent, 10 years ago (expensive) but they threw in software upgrades for free. The new aerial appeared to have"crashed" about 4 years ago, so as I wanted colour I bought a lowrance with internal aerial. I put my power boat up for sale 2.5 years ago and because I wanted to keep the new unit. I plugged the old seiwa back in on the "offchance" surprisingly it worked and has continued to do so. cheers Peter

Seiwa as a brand isn't very actively promoted in the UK. I believe the Digital Yacht Smarterchart plotter was a rebadged Seiwa.
