Anyone know about the capsize at shepp today ?

Russell Road runs from the Walton Bridge roundabout towards Shepperton village and passes alongside the old river channel on the north side of Desborough Island.

There are a couple of sailing clubs in that stretch so maybe it was a dingy that capsized?

We are just upstream and normally the helecopter is circling around on these occasions but last night nothing, so must have been just a river/land based search. We've had a bad run of drownings over the past few years in this area
and the helecopter is usually the first sigh something is amiss.
Nothing on local news either.

Very sad....but so many errors! Speed, no lifejackets, bad weight distribution, strong currents: a catastrophe waiting to happen.

As an aside I do like the name on the police boat :D

There's a retired one on the stretch between Shiplake and Sonning called Off Duty.

Don't let Jenny at Bridge Marine hear that, Fuzz belongs to her and she is the one standing on the side of it in the picture. In fact she has two of the old police 'duty' boats the other one is called Priority.

Well the sun is out and its the first day of the school holidays . Lets hope in a wierd kind of way that it is connected rather than a new accident :(
