Anyone in Swanwick this evening?

I guess you already know but there's a Princess Open Weekend starting there tomorrow. We're going along on Monday to look at the new 52, but we have a trip to the frozen wastelands of Loch Lomond to enjoy or endure first.

Yep, I got invited, and the V52 is already here, looking forward to seeing it. Rather intimidatingly, I'm berthed just along from the V85 and V85-S, and opposite the V62.

Good luck up north, I think it might be a bit wet up there at the moment. I'm pretty sure we'll be gone by Monday, but I'll ping you if we're still here.

Cheers
Jimmy

Why aren't you at work? We'll be down Sunday evening, look at v52 Monday, then off for a few days, maybe to Brighton!

I think we'll be gone by Sunday night - but if you're heading along to Brighton perhaps I'll see you along there? Be good to have a less rushed catch-up this time!

Very interesting.

I am flying into S'ton this evening and staying until Sunday. I will be staying with friends ner the New Forest so if I can drag myself away from the used Phantom 50...

I wonder if they are showing a 50 or 54 flybridge?

We're coming to Ocean Village on Saturday and I fancy popping into Swanwick en route to drool over the V85 for a bit. Is there much room for visitors on the short stay pontoons, or is it chocker already due to the BH weekend and the show?

Are you sure saturday is the best day to go? I know you like the wind in your hair but it's a bit breezy on that day, Sundays seems better though.

Yeah, I know. The weekend doesn't look that good overall, but we have other plans for Sunday so the trip down there has to be Saturday. Looking at the forecast I agree with MJF - leaving a little later than normal will probably catch the best weather window of the day. Sunday is the day to be doing things rather than just travelling.

You going far this weekend Steve?

Hi

Have not worked out anything yet, but that is quite normal for me. Have a couple of extra days off so not back to Thursday so could end up anywhere - Pottery Pier - ha ha

Hi K, wandered around to see if you were on board this evening, but no sign of life! We should be about most of tomorrow if you're still coming down. Probably head back to Bton on the evening tide.

Have you got any pics of the V52, Jimmy?
Not interested in buying one but I'm sure, like me, others would like to see what she's like.

Mike

Hi Mike

Didn't take any pics at all, sorry. It was interesting to compare the v42, v45, v52 and v62. Some interesting price jumps - £410k for a 42 vs £465k for a v45; at the other end of the scale the v52 was £700k whereas the v62 was £1.4m - a big jump up from a year ago.

The v52 has outstanding accommodation, although externally I didn't think it was the prettiest v-boat that Princess have drawn. As a slight tangent, you can now have the v56 with D13's - 40knots!

Cheers

It felt like a forum meet at Swanwick yesterday, nice to meet up with people again, or for the first time. There was a really good selection of boats there, every boat in the V series range, including the launch of the V52, and flybridges up to 78 I think.

The 52 is a bit like a 62 with the back end chopped off, so for me there just ain't enough outside lounging space, although the saloon is sort of outside space of course, as it has an opening roof. The trade off is that it has fantastic accomodation inside with a palatial full height, full beam cabin you'd normally see on a 70 footer. I think it'd work well with the 3 cabin option for those that need the extra cabin and can live with the small cockpit, because it has an enclosed saloon at deck level.

edit: only took this pic, which shows the 52 in the foreground. Highlight of the show by the way was the V85 engine room, yummy.

Yep, I thought it was v generous of Princess to host the bank holiday barbeque of the ybw.com forum - attendees included nick_h, mjf, rogerrat, kcrane, illusion (with his brand spanking new boat, very nice!) amongst others. Good fun - nice to see everyone.

Had a fab run back to Bton last night, waited until just before 8pm to catch the flood tide, wind had fallen away to nothing and it was as flat as you like all the way back - cruised at 30-32kts for the whole trip, back on berth just after 10pm. Lovely.

Cheers
