I’m spending a lot of time in Hong Kong at the moment and would like to get afloat a bit more, perhaps as crew. YM qualified.

Does anyone sail here, or know somebody that does? I already know about the
yacht clubs, moorings, marinas etc

Many thanks

John

The neighbours of my late father-in-law in Nam Wai were sailors, but sadly we've lost touch with them. But if I were you, I'd check the scene at Sai Kung rather than the Island; there are actually many more yachts at Sai Kung, and several clubs. The minibus stops at Marina Cove, where (guess what!) there's a marina and a yacht club. One of my wife's distant cousins builds boats - but fisherman's work boats, not yachts!

PS, the route we take is MTR to Choi Hung, then green minibus number 1A. I think it's exit C from the MTR station, but I'm not sure. The Hong Kong eTransportApp is very useful!

I did a bit of crewing on race days with the Royal HK Yacht Club on Middle Island (http://www.rhkyc.org.hk/) in Repulse Bay. Friendly group who are happy to get extra hands on race days etc. Worth asking there and at some of the other clubs as mentioned.

Second that. Get yourself down there at weekends and ask if you can crew. Also try same at Aberdeen Boat Club. They’re both friendly places with excellent clubhouses.
