Anyone in Gouvia inquired about the new tax?

Are you sure that you are actually in Greece? and not some economically bankrupt, corrupt, overstaffed and maladministered third world banana republic?

Subject: New "Circulation Tax" due to be implimented on 1st January 2014

Fao Dimitri Koutsondontis.

Hope you had a good Christmas.

Many of us are concerned about the proposed new tax which appears to
comr into force on 010114 and apart from a few statements by our
Cruising Association, we are unaware of several points.

1. Will it actually come into force on that date.

2. We understand that failure to make payment by 01/Jan/14 will
render owners liable for a fine, therefore those of us who will not be
present in Greece before that date and probably not until April are
helpless to avoid this.

3. Will boats out of the water incur the new tax?

4. What steps has Medmarinas taken to facilitate the collection of the
new tax?

5. Will we need a Greek bank account to pay the charge on a monthly
basis?

We await your comments but in the meantime please have a Happy New Year.

A complete joke. How can Greece take itself seriously with such an ineffective government?

Labour or the Fat Salmon, either way the Scots are sleepwalking into a bleak future reminiscent of what the Greeks are enduring. At the moment the Barnett Formula means that Scotland is subsidised to the tune of +11% of public expenditure paid by the English. Scottish oil will become less important as England gets into fracking and if Salmon believes that the English public will smile benignly on his "Devolution Lite " then he really is in cloud cuckoo land. John Bull will look grimly on such disloyalty once UKIP gets them wound up.
Labour will try and maintain the status quo otherwise the loss of Scottish gerrymandered seats in the English Parliament means they will never be in power again, and the labour old pals club will have to start earning a living.
So as a hereditary Scot I would say that I'm on the right side of the border, and as in Greece we're watching the self serving politicians manipulate and bribe their electorate into a nightmare.

Sorry folks a bit off thread

In order to let the staff recuperate after Christmas the Finance Ministry has closed ALL tax offices for an extra week --you cannot even tax your car!

Now that`a a Joke.

The joke is unfortunately on you because you do not tax your car at the tax office!

For the last 2 years you download this form http://www.gsis.gr/gsis/info/gsis_site/index.html, fill in the details and pay at any bank or post office.

Late payers, (after today 2nd Jan) will be surcharged 100%!

Keep smiling!

Perhaps we will be able to download one of these nice forms to pay our new boat tax -- now that would be progress.

Cheers
